Full Description
Two shieling huts were noted by WCAS during a DBA and walkover survey in advance of a bracken control programme. The southeast shieling was located in a basin 30m southwest of small burn under grass and bracken. It was a stone or turf subrectangular shieling built against the northwest side of a boulder. It measured 5.5m north to south by 3m over walls spread to 1.2m and surviving up to 0.6m high. The entrance was 0.5m wide in the north end. The northwest shieling was located at the base of an east-facing slope under bracken and grass. It was a stone or turf subcircular shieling built against the northwest side of a boulder. It measured 5m in diameter over walls 0.7m wide and surviving up to 0.7m high. The entrance 0.6m wide in the southeast end. <1>
