Full Description
Five kilometre west of the Loch Luichart Dam on a SE facing slope on the north side of the upper glen at an altitude of 220m.
301 The site comprises a sub-circular sheep stell. It is on the lower side of the vehicle track NH 35842 58063, was recorded by NOSAS in 2007 as part of the Scotland's Rural Past Project, having internal diameter of 10m, and a largely intact stone walls to a height of 1.5m. The wall is well made and has a coping of vertical stones, but two sections of the east side have collapsed. There is a sheep creep or “lunkie”, 0.5m square in the south part of the wall with a nice blocking slab 0.65m square adjacent. Fifty metres to the east, at NH 35901 58062, there is a small overhanging rock with a short stretch of dry stone wall across the front, a possible rock shelter or small animal pen. <1>
