Description
Following a desk based assessment and walk-over survey of the proposed Water Main Renewal route carried out in 2007 a programme of watching briefs was recommended during construction to identify and record any archaeology disturbed during the laying of new water mains in these areas. This report presents the results of this follow-up work. The trench lines were re-routed to minimise impacts on known township remains at both Glenbernisdale and Borve. Where the trench routes passed in close proximity to visible features and structures, rapid surveys of these were conducted and each was recorded photographically. Four features and eight structures were identified. In each case, the remains were found to be superficial and degraded. <1>
