Description

AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Baillie Hill Wind Farm Ltd to undertake a Desk Based Assessment and walkover survey of the proposed grid connection route for Baillie Hill Wind Farm near Dounreay, Caithness, the Highlands. The assessment identified archaeological and architectural heritage assets ranging in date from prehistory to the Second World War and later. A total of five sites were identified as possibly being directly impacted by installation of the connection. A further three sites were identified within 20 metres of the route that may be vulnerable to inadvertent damage by plant movement. In compliance with national and local planning policies, a programme of archaeological works including avoidance through micrositing, watching brief and fencing of visible archaeological remains is proposed at the end of this report. <1>
