Full Description

The following information was provided by a visitor to the HER website: The moot-hill of Courthill (Cnoc a' mhoid) is where the lairds of the Applecross Mackenzies carried out their court of justice. It lies adjacent to St. Donan's chapel & on the old parish boundary between Applecross & Lochcarron. For those unlucky enough to be sentenced to death, they were taken up the hill some mile distant to the Gallowhill (Cnoc na croiche), where presumably sentence was carried out!! <1>

This record was formerly for the gallows/punishment place itself, which appears from the above information to have lain some distance to the north-east. <2>
