Full Description
The following information was supplied by a local researcher, Paul Swan: The moot-hill of Courthill (Cnoc a' mhoid) is where the lairds of the Applecross Mackenzies carried out their court of justice. It lies adjacent to St. Donan's chapel & on the old parish boundary between Applecross & Lochcarron. For those unlucky enough to be sentenced to death, there was the ½ mile uphill trudge to Gallows Hill, where presumably sentence was carried out. <1>-<4>
Gallows Hill is named on Blacks new large map of Scotland 1862. <5>
