Full Description

This building has been marked as a dwelling house on Site Plan for Castlehill Pavement Works Steading and Harbour <1>.

The house is possibly the original farmhouse associated with Castlehill House Steading. It was extended to the NE between 1872 and 1905; it still appears to be entirely roofed. The extension may be a result of the farmhouse being used for extra workers accomodation during the boom days of the pavement works <2>.
