Description
Tanera More lies a short distance off the west coast of the mainland opposite Achiltibuie in Ross and Cromarty. The areas surveyed covered most of the islen with only the highest areas with rocky outcrops and improved or settled areas being excluded from the areas for planting. The unimproved areas of the island had beed used as rough grazing but no sheep had been present for ten years before the survey. This had allowed some natural regeneration of tree species and in places the ground cover of heather was also very well established. However as this regeneration is recent there is little obstruction to visibility. Light snow cover during the survey enhanced feature definition. <1>
